Hyponidd Tablets- Relief from PCOS

Today, our jobs and stressful lives, our bodies have become prone to many types of illnesses. Ayurveda has been saving people for ages by offering cures which are sometimes considered as impossible by allopathic doctors.

Ayurveda also offers simple solution called Hyponidd to the ailment known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

What is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders among females. PCOS is a complex, heterogeneous disorder of uncertain etiology, but there is strong evidence that it can, to a large degree, be classified as a genetic disease.

What are the symptoms of PCOS?

PCOS has following symptoms:

1.      Menstrual disorders: PCOS mostly produces oligomenorrhea (few menstrual periods) or amenorrhea (no menstrual periods), but other types of menstrual disorders may also occur.

2.      Infertility: This generally results directly from chronic anovulation (lack of ovulation).

3.      High levels of masculinizing hormones: Women experience signs like acne and hirsutism (male pattern of hair growth). However, it may produce hypermenorrhea (very frequent menstrual periods), androgenic alopecia (increase hair thinning or diffuse hair loss), or other symptoms. Approximately three-quarters of patients with PCOS (by the diagnostic criteria of NIH/NICHD 1990) have evidence of hyperandrogenemia.

4.      Metabolic syndrome: This appears as a tendency towards central obesity and other symptoms associated with insulin resistance. Serum insulin, insulin resistance and homocysteine levels are higher in women with PCOS.

How can Hyponidd cure PCOS?

Two tablets of Hyponidd daily can be helpful to PCOS patients. Tablets should be taken half-an-hour before meal. If a patient is on some other hypoglycemic drug, he may need to take one tablet extra daily for the first week.

Hyponidd is helpful to PCOS patients because it improves insulin sensitivity, thereby promoting ovulation and reduced levels of testosterone. It helps in controlling hirsutism, acne, alopecia and obesity. It works wonders for women with insulin-resistance.

PCOS- Diet and lifestyle suggested by Ayurveda

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS, is caused by a complex hormonal imbalance. The condition affects the whole body, and can cause infertility, hormonal imbalance and other serious medical conditions in some cases.

The number of patients suffering from PCOS is increasing and we can trace its root causes in the diet and lifestyle. So a shift in the Diet and life style results in bringing back the equilibrium.

1. Adopt healthy eating habits: The ideal diet of PCOS is low in carbohydrates and refined sugars. This will reverse the condition and bring back the balance of glucose and insulin and ends the flair up of PCOS symptoms.

2. Exercise, exercise, exercise: It can either be a 40 minute walk, playing badminton, playing with your kids, skipping, or going for swimming, exercise has proven to boost digestion and burn fat deposited in the body. It helps to control insulin levels and brings back the metabolic equilibrium. Regular exercise helps in weight loss and help to stave off diabetes.

3. Stress Free: Women with PCOS are more prone towards experiencing depression and mood swings. They find very difficult to relax and their body itself work against it.Yoga and meditation are use ful to hold the stress.

4) Eat regular, healthy meals including plenty of vegetables, fruit, salads, mixed grains and cereals
5) Drink less caffeine. Try drinking water instead, 8- 12 glasses a day.
6) Cut down on alcoholic beverages.
7) Cut down on salt and salty foods to help reduce fluid retention.
8) Women with PCOS are at a higher risk for heart disease, and saturated fat and trans fats can increase that risk even more, so these fats should be limited or avoided by women with PCOS.
9) Reducing their total intake of carbohydrates (cereals, breads, pastas) and choosing to eat different types of carbohydrates that are less processed (whole wheat, brown rice, beans) will certainly help. Replacing manufactured carbohydrate products with whole grains, fruits and vegetables can help to reduce your insulin response. The diet also should include enough protein to control the amount of sugar in the blood.

A complication of PCOS:

85% of the female infertility is due to PCOD.

Pregnancy can be challenging for women with PCOD, as the treatment fo PCOD becomes the major concern.

The Ayurvedic perspective of PCOS

Ayurveda does not name a particular disease which can be considered as equivalent to PCOS. But there are some ailments where the symptoms match with those of PCOS. These symptoms are due to Pitta Vata vitiation which gradually affects the uterus and its normal functioning.

Charak Acharya describes a condition called Rakta yoni which is characterized by heavy blood flow through the vagina due to Rakta Pitta vitiation which in turn is the result of improper food of the woman. Acharya says that in this condition the bleeding does not stop even while the woman is pregnant.

Charak Acharya explains another condition called Arajaska, which arises due to Pitta kopa and characterized by the absence of menstruation.

Treatment of PCOS in Ayurveda;

Seka ( effusion with dedicated oil or lukewarm water boiled with herbs),  Abhyanga               ( application of medicated oil on the body) and Pichu( inserting a tampon soaked in medicated oil or ghee into the vagina) are proven to be effective in the management of PCOS.
